Audi Scored Record US Annual Sales

Audi Line Up

The American division of Audi is proudly announced that they successfully scored new annual sales figures. The figures are 102,055 units just one month before the 2011 ends which mean that these figures are already exceed the 2010 record where the German automaker managed to sell 101,629 units. Hmmm… it seems like the efforts that have been put up by the VW Group is starting to show some result.

In US, Audi has to struggle to compete with local brands such as Chevrolet and Ford although those two are challenging each other on the pickup truck market segment. The new record US sales in every month have also been some kind of additional sprit for Audi to score better and better sales figures on the upcoming months. The November 2011 sales record will be announced somewhere this week to whether Audi successfully scored another record month sales.

The monthly sales figures are not the only achievements Audi are getting now because the German automaker has also scored new sales record through the Certified pre-owned vehicles. According to, Audi’s registering division scored 33,102 units by then end of Thanksgiving which can be explained as 32% increase over the previous year.

It is very amazing that US division of Audi managed to book record sales figures because right now, the automotive makers in European are hoping that the European economy crisis is not getting worst as the Italian government has announced that they are adding taxes for luxury items because they are about this close to bankruptcy.

2011 Frankfurt Auto Show Report: Official Photos of Volkswagen Up

Volkswagen UP

Let’s cut the chase as we introduce you to the official photos of Volkswagen Up from the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. After teasers and photoshop photos, the Volkswagen Up compact hatchback is finally comes alive. As we have previously reported that the Volkswagen Up is intended to challenge the MINI, Citroen C1, and Fiat 500. We think the biggest competitors for the Volkswagen Up are the MINI and Fiat 500 as those two have been battling to be on top f hatchback share market in Europe.

Volkswagen UP - side view

At first, we thought that the engine of the Volkswagen Up is in the form of rear engine. But Das Auto stated that their Volkswagen Up is using the little three-cylinder engine. That frisky three-cylinder engine can be considered at the smallest engine on the entire Volkswagen line-up. Not only that, the three-cylinder engine on the Volkswagen Up compact hatchback is replacing the rear-wheel drive configuration which was equipped to the concept.

Volkswagen UP - interior

The Volkswagen Up compact hatchback offers two petrol units of 1.0L displacement that is able to give power output around 60 horsepower or 75 horsepower. So, what kind of Volkswagen Up is really about?

According to Das Auto, the Volkswagen Up compact hatchback is focusing to be daily city car which can put up with all the traffic congestion which usually happens on business hours. Traffic congestion means one thing: lavish petrol usage. Fear not, as the Volkswagen Up has excellent fuel consumption due to VW’s BlueMotion Technology. With that smart technology, both engine version scored fuel consumption at 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

Here is what Klaus Bischoff – the Head of Design for the Volkswagen Brand said about the Volkswagen UP compact hatchback, “If the goal is to maximize space, the ideal form for a small car would be a rectangular box. In the Volkswagen Up, we were able to sculpt such a box with a clean and powerful design that does not lose sight of space utilization.”

No official price yet, but if das Auto wants the compact hatchback to be able to compete with MINI and Fiat 500, it means that the Volkswagen Up has to show up as an affordable city car.

Volkswagen Up Promotional Teaser Video

Volkswagen Up

We can’t figure out why Volkswagen Up is launched because as much as we like the cuteness – it’s yellow and radiant like the “Spongebob” aura – but this small hatchback seems no power inside and probably can’t compete with Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris, or Suzuki Swift. Volkswagen tries to gain millions of attention for the Up! small hatchback by releasing a promotional teaser video. Never thought that something so small like Volkswagen Up needed this much of effort to gain attention.

The promotional teaser video for Volkswagen Up only lasted for 42 seconds which represent the joy because the small hatchback is about to come. The big unveiling for the small Volkswagen Up! hatchback will take place at 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show next month. The teaser video is showcasing an attractive young people jumping into the air, smiling, and seems can’t wait to see the Volkswagen Up. But, Volkswagen seems to forget one thing – where in the world is the Volkswagen Up? Oh, wait.. That is why Volkswagen refers it as “promotional teaser video”. The more curiosity Volkswagen Up! gains, so does the attention.

Volkswagen Up pretty much the same with the concept Volkswagen proposed. But, with the global economy still storming, will Volkswagen Up small hatchback survive the competition against other vehicles?

Another marketing strategy from Volkswagen Up small hatchback is rumors on the internet and online forums that the unveiling might be done online or at a special public event before September’s Frankfurt show. We still don’t know how we react on the arrival of Volkswagen Up small hatchback, just so you know that we are not as excited as the people on the promotional teaser video.

In case you are curious, here are the predictions on the details on Volkswagen Up small hatchback. The Volkswagen Up small hatchback will have two-door, four-wheels (obviously!), and the seats are enough to load four people. The power will be coming from a three-cylinder and the base price for Volkswagen Up! is €10,000.
