2010 Volkswagen Transporter

Volkswagen’s Transporter and People Mover celebrates the 60 years of production this month, and to celebrate this achievement, VW introduced the 2010 Volkswagen Transporter. It is a spacious MPV and able to load a group of kindergarten choirs and bridge club members.

Just plain speaking, the new 2010 Volkswagen Transporter is very thorough half-body revision with almost all the changes made forward of the “B” pillar. The reshape makes a lot of sense from a cost perspective, and has helped Volkswagen pass on big savings to its customers. It’s also certain to come as good news to wallets of existing customers wanting to transfer expensive custom-made body modules from their previous Transporter to the new model with the cargo bay remaining mostly unchanged.

So, what new improvements are there in the 2010 Volkswagen Transporter? Yes, they are. The new 2010 Transporter offers a 3.2 tonne admissible total weight; new infotainment program, new climate control system, antenna integrated in exterior wing mirrors, gear shift indicator, new headlamps and taillights, new front mudguards, grille and bonnet, new fog lamps with integrated cornering light function (optional), new wet clutch seven-speed DSG transmission, and of course, new fabrics and new colors.

The 2010 Volkswagen Transporter is powered by 2.0-liter turbo-diesel unit with three variants of outputs 75kW, 103kW, and 132kW. Volkswagen claims the power delivery has been improved with more torque offered earlier in the rev range for greater flexibility and negligible turbo lag. Fuel-economy usage has improved significantly by as much as 16 percent.

Of course fuel consumption of 2010 Volkswagen Transporter figures will vary depending on configuration, transmission type and load carried, but we predict a 132kW TDI engine uses just 8.7-liter/100km in the ADR combined-cycle test, a seven percent improvement over the current 2.5-liter unit.

With lower operating costs, better fuel-economy and superior safety than the previous model, the 2010 Volkswagen Transporter represents a reasonably priced and realistic alternative to less appealing and lesser specified Japanese and Korean rivals.

The price tag for 2010 Volkswagen Transporter $36,490 sets the new generation of vans and people movers and Volkswagen really expects the sales number boosts up to 2,500 units.
