We already know that Bentley has big plans with the new turbocharged V8 for the 2012 Bentley Continental GT luxury sedan, which is going to be used on a number of upcoming S and RS models. The first to debut is expected to be the new S6, which should land in Frankfurt for this year’s edition of the motor show in September. However, Bentley is also very involved with the eight-pot and will unveil a V8-powered 2012 Bentley Continental GT luxury sedan just a few months later, in January.

Until the 2012 Detroit Auto Show debuts and brings with it the arrival of the new engine for the 2012 Bentley Continental GT luxury sedan, Bentley still has to unveil the facelifted version of the GTC convertible, which will sport the usual mix of LEDs, retouched cosmetics and better trim. That’s what we call expensive, but then again, 500 horsepower is what we’d call really powerful. For the money, Audi throws in a panoramic sunroof, comfort seats with ventilation and massage functions, rear-seat entertainment, 20-inch wheels plus connection to Google Earth which brings the exclusivity to the 2012 Audi A8 L W12 luxury sedan.

Specifically, the 2012 Audi A8 L W12 luxury sedan is powered by the new 6.3-liter twelve-cylinder engine which develops 500 horsepower. According to Audi, the A8 L W12 has a 14 mpg city and a 21 mpg highway fuel consumption.

The unit allows for 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) acceleration in 4.9 seconds, and sends the 2012 Audi A8 L W12 luxury sedan on its way to the electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph).

The Indian branch of Mercedes-Benz had marked today the official delivery of the 90 units of Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse as the largest fleet of luxury cars purchased in India by a single customer. Mercedes-Benz India acknowledges Mr. Rajiv Vij, managing Director of “Cars on Rent” for the largest value single party luxury transaction in the country.

The “Cars on Rent” fleet now counts 160 Mercede- Benz models. The new units of Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse luxury sedan will be used to service premium travelers across Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. This fact highlights the rising business environment in India and also the quality of customer service that is improving visibly.

New images of the upcoming 2012 Audi S6 luxury saloon have just fallen into our figurative lap, and surprisingly the car isn’t wearing any camouflage. Perhaps, given the fact that the regular A6 saloon is out and about, the Ingolstadt engineers didn’t feel the need to cover the car up, but the only thing which is missing to make this a production model is an “S6” badge.

We just talked about the disappointment that is the new S5, which has dropped a whole bunch of ponies for a lighter and more efficient engine configuration. The 2012 Audi S6 luxury saloon will also lob off a couple of its cylinders from the current model’s V10, yet the new 4.0-liter TFSI will make about as much power as the engine it replaces.

While the Germans at Daimler announced earlier this week they have started accepting orders for the all-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Klasse, the North American division of Mercedes-Benz revealed the luxury crossover has finally made its on-road debut in the United States.

Together with the R-Klasse and GL-Klasse, the third generation 2012 Mercedes M-Klasse luxury crossover is produced in the States at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which began production in 1997 with the first-generation M-Klasse.

Mercedes-Benz begins the 2012 model year with two 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Klasse luxury crossover models – the more powerful ML350 BlueTEC diesel (240 horsepower, 455 lb.-ft. of torque), and the ML350 4MATIC equipped with a brand new direct-injection V6 engine (302 hp, 273 lb.-ft.).

The all-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Klasse luxury crossover received updates both inside and out. It sits about 3/4-inch lower than the previous model, it’s nearly an inch longer and a half-inch wider. Better engines and the recently introduced cosmetic changes have resulted in a 37 percent increase in the only Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV available at the moment. The Porsche baby-Cayenne couldn’t come a moment too soon, but until that happens Porsche will have to increase production starting as early as next year.

Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV’s output will increase by 10 percent to 20 percent starting in 2012, Bernhard Maier, Porsche’s sales chief, said in an interview with our contributor. Limited production and increase in global demand of the Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV has resulted in 12 month delays being seen in markets such as China, and the carmaker wants this to be reduced to a maximum of six months.

“We’re now looking into ways we can expand production capacity to be able to serve our customers more quickly,” Maier said at the Stuttgart, Germany-based automaker’s headquarters. “First-half data show that we’re growing almost consistently in all world markets and across all model lines including Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV.”

The demand on Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV could eventually happen with the Porsche Panamera, as sales may rise to more than 28,000 units this year ends, compared to more than 20,000 in the first full year after the model came to market in September 2009.

Prospects in the U.S., the company’s biggest market for Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV, are very positive. “The U.S. market is still characterized by a degree of volatility that shouldn’t be underestimated. In the coming years, growth is conceivable in the U.S. to help return to levels seen before the crisis,”Maier said. Sales figures on the Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV for the first half of the year in the US rose 42 percent to 15,542 after a 19 percent in June.

Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury crossover has been rumoring to join the production line-up. This could be meaning one thing: the arrival of the new contender on the crossover world. We might have to thank BMW for enlarging the market for crossover vehicles that don’t really work off-road but offer the luxury normally expected from saloons, as the success of its BMW X6 might spur Mercedes-Benz to create something that blends practicality and style in a package with the same rakish lines.

According to our contributor, the all new Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury crossover, and (as the name suggests) it will take the lines of the CLS four-door into the world of crossover vehicles. The BMW X6 rival will arrive in 2014, featuring a four-seat interior arrangement and underpinned by the same platform as the new Mercedes-Benz M-Klasse.

“After closely monitoring sales trends, we’ve concluded there is potential for an additional off-road model with a more sporting emphasis than the new Mercedes-Benz M-class,” an insider revealed last week.

With 120,000 BMW X6 units sold across the world since its debut in 2009, it’s no wonder that wants to get in on the action, but by the time the Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury crossover reaches the market, Audi and Land Rover might also have introduced such crossover to their lineup.

Details are limited at the moment, but the engine range for the Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury crossover could include the 306 hp 3.5-liter V6 and 435 hp 4.8-liter V8 petrols. In the diesel department, Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury crossover could introduce its 258 hp 3.0-liter diesel and even a hybrid oil-burner, based on the E300 diesel-electric that is scheduled to be unveiled in Frankfurt in September. It’s also hard to believe that the German carmaker will refrain from creating a 5.5-liter AMG monster alongside with the Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury crossover.
