The first time we spotted the Volkswagen Cross Coupe was during the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show and it presented as concept that ready for production. The VW Group needs to rush their production line up as they want to be recognized as the most productive automaker in the world. The Cross Coupe will be arriving as production compact crossover form for the next three years and using the VW Golf as the platform.
No wonder Das Auto seems to be very confident to fasten the Volkswagen Cross Coupe production as they don’t need to develop new platform. We know that Das Auto has to use the compact crossover model as efficient as possible as the platform can be built for multiple versions; including the odd “coupe” which VW Group thinks it will be attractive for their customers.
We still do not know whether the Volkswagen Cross Coupe will get new styling cues or stay as a 4-door version compact crossover. The styling cues are somehow redefined the usual styling on Volkswagen’s SUV line-up as well. Yup… Das Auto is looking for any new styling and design because they want to conquer the US market and what the US market interested in buying the VW is no longer involving the Beetle, but bigger vehicle. Bigger vehicle here refers to seven-seater SUV which means that the Cross Coupe is the only perfect candidate for this job.
