Audi Launches the Biturbo Diesel Engine

Audi Biturbo engine

When we think that the Audi biturbo diesel engine proposal just a rumor, the German automaker proof us wrong. The automotive world is entering the new dawn of diesel engine as more and more automakers developed efficient powerplant on the oil-burner energy. The first German automaker which patented the tri-turbo is BMW as the system is installed on the 3.0L V6 engine under the M performance division. As we think that other German carmakers are doing nothing, Audi steps up and officially introduced their 3.0L V6 TDI that uses the biturbo.

The additional turbo on Audi’s diesel engine is intended to boost up the total power output into 313 horsepower between 3,900-4,500 rpm with torque around 650Nm or 479 lb-ft. What makes the diesel engine efficient is merely not the diesel as refers that the start-stop technology and thermal management system help reach the efficiency that Audi wishes for. The thermal management system responsibles for bringing the oil and coolant to maintain the operating temperatures.

The biturbo diesel engine will make a debut on the Audi A6 sedan and coupled to the automatic 8-speed tiptronic transmission and quattro AWD system. This way, the A6 sedan is able o hit 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in 5.1 seconds with electronically limited top speed reaches at 155 mph or 250 km/h. The 3.0L BiTDI also uses what Audi refers as sound actuator that “transforms the typical TDI exhaust note into more sonorous roar which is closer to the output of a high-performance petrol engine”.

Gemballas Cayenne-based Tornado At Top Marques Monaco

Why Top Marques Monaco considered to be the world’s most exclusive car show? It is one of the only international motor show where the most exclusive names in the automotive industry come together under one roof. Ever year, the show is opened by HRH Prince Albert of Monaco, patron of the event and connoisseur of fine automobiles.

The venue of Top Marques Monaco is designed to be the world’s most extreme Porsche customizers. One of the participants is Germany customizer “Gemballa” which showed “Tornado” as the rebirth of the Porsche Cayenne. The model features not only achieve heavy exterior and interior modifications, but also a substation engine tune-up.

Gemballa explained that Tornado has new body parts which include a unique front and rear ends, and an array of bespoke aero parts which definitely change the appearance of the two Porsche models and also reduce the weight.

Andreas Schwarz – CEO of Gemballa states, “We have significantly reduced eight, but without compromising strength, safety, or comfort. Rather than cutting steel panels and bonding on new parts which is a common thing in the aftermarket industry, we completely replace the original panels with bespoke carbon fiber ones that use the original mounting points. These new panels include the bonnet, front wings, doors, front and rear bumper and valance, save a total of 70kg.”

After receiving new body kits from Gemballa, the Cayenne has special body kit that uses interesting elements namely massive air intakes and vertical LED daytime running lights for the front bumper and wider wheel arches. Not only that, the kit provides stunning 22-inches wheels which Gemballa claimed just as light as factory-built 20-inches tire.

Now we know how the Porsche Cayenne transformed into Gemballa’s Tornado, time to see what Gemballa puts under the hood. The Gemballa’s Cayenne-Based Tornado which was showed at the Top Marques Monaco is powered by a 4.8-liter biturbo V8 engine which give 500 horsepower. An ECU remaps the raises output up to 580 horsepower. The model uses the Stage 1 name with more power-craving customers able to opt for a Stage 2 package which offers a stunning 700 horsepower.
