Engine Choice for Bentley SUV

Bentley SUV Engine Choice for Bentley SUV

The possibility we will see the Bentley SUV both in concept or production version is late 2014 because the luxury carmaker has scheduled their SUV to enter the market in 2015. Rumor has it that the mysterious Bentley SUV will be using a 12-cylinder petrol engine. Wait, Bentley wants to make a SUV that might challenge the Bugatti?

Well, perhaps if we are looking at the engine choice in the form of 12-cylinder or to make it more clear, a W12 engine. That is the same engine that powered a Bugatti without a turbocharge system. But with Bentley, we doubt it that the SUV will stay on pure W12 engine, because there is a big possibility that the SUV will be powered by a W12 with a turbocharged system.

So, why Bentley chooses W12 engine for a SUV? Bentley has one thing to convey on the automotive world: luxury. And using the W12 engine will be emphasizing Bentley’s supremacy on the luxury car segment – or should we change it into luxury SUV segment? Other reason is might be because the W12 is currently powering the Continental range and it would be save some money because Bentley doesn’t have to do research and development of the new engine for the SUV.

Bentley keeps the SUV project in complete hush-hush which means we have to use our probability cause. Probably, the SUV has other engine option in form of diesel to challenge the next-gen of Audi Q7 that is powered by the V12 TDI unit. One of the main reasons why Bentley has confident in SUV project is because they have changing the chief engineer – Elrich Ecihhorm with the new guy – Rolf Frech who served as engineer from Porsche. It means that Herr Frech has more experience in the field because he was part of Cayenne development team.

The Upcoming 2012 Bentley Continental GT2

2012 Bentley Continental GT2 The Upcoming 2012 Bentley Continental GT2

The arrival of the 2012 Bentley Continental GT2 coupe has been officially confirmed by the Bentley CEO Durheimer. He stated that the two-door (which means its in coupe form, right?) version of GT2 Continental will be ready next year.

It’s not the coupe form that excites us, but the total power output for 2012 Bentley Continental GT2 that might be able to reach up to 650 horsepower. Question: which type of engine that can offer that kind of power – the W12 or the V8? Come on… a 5th grader that addicted watching automotive TV series is smarter than you. Frankly speaking, both W12 and V8 are able to create 650 horsepower; but we think the W12 is more fitted with the overall look of 2012 Continental GT2 coupe.

The 2012 Bentley Continental GT2 will not only carry massive power under its hood, but the coupe will be having a strict diet in order to reach certain weight level. The total weight loss needs to be shed by the 2012 Continental GT2 is around 200 kg (400 lbs) from the current weight 2,200 kg (4,400 lbs). Sounds familiar? Honestly, the weight loss program for the GT2 is similar with what the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has. Guess we have to credit the Bentley engineers to be able to pull that off.

Back to engine, the 2012 Bentley Continental GT2 coupe is intended to be a track-focused version vehicle. It means that the GT2 has the ability to go sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) less than four seconds.

Bentley CEO – Durheimer has this to say about the arrival of 2012 Bentley Continental GT2 coupe, “I definitely think there is room for a car with more power than the Supersport. I also think some of what we did with the Supersport in the past wasn’t quite right. For example, it should not be a two-seater. That layout should be reserved for the top-line cars.”

While wait for the new and upgraded Bentley Continental GTC sedan, we found this breath-taking video which showed the luxury car in new color. Not just ordinary color, and not ordinary Continental GTC. The photo we attached is the ordinary Bentley Continental GTC in its “ordinary” style and interior.

Have you watched the video? Did you know what makes the ordinary Bentley Continental GTC sedan so different with the ordinary ones? Okay, before we tell you what makes this Continental GTC sedan so special is because ASI has transformed into something else. Wait… ASI? What does stand for?

ASI stands for “Accuracy Spirit Imagination” which is company that focuses on giving body kit for aftermarket cars. The ASI-tuned Bentley Continental GTC sedan on the video was spotted in Monaco. A city where deep pocket people – we can say rich, but we prefer this term – and socialite like Paris Hilton or Prince of Dubai spends their never-ending funds.

With the base price at $205,600; the Bentley Continental GTC already sets place on the luxury sedan segment. Just so you know, ASI might provided the body kit, but under the hood, it still carries the 6.0L W12 turbocharged engine that able to unleash 552 horsepower as it coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Now, the ASI body kit for the Bentley Continental GTC sedan covers the paintjob. Pretty cool, eh? The red and white color scheme represents the ASI which also known as Japanese tuner too. The paint job is cool, but we just can’t get our eyes off those 22-inch alloy rims wrapped in 265/30 tires up front and 295/25 at the rear. It’s truly one of those awesome tuning luxury sedan, right? The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Linley Limited Edition will have the Linley Helix motif that is borrowed from the Helix Furniture Collection. It will be applied for the waist-rails and picnic of the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Linley Limited Edition luxury sedan. Since the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Linley Limited Edition is the luxury sedan, it means that the rear console will get a customer-ordered Linley humidor.

Mark Blanchard, the Head of Design at Linley explains about the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Linley Limited Edition, “The car had to look different and we wanted a strong statement inside the interior, so we chose Santos rosewood, a straight grain veneer. Bentley usually uses burr veneers for their interiors as they are more malleable around compound curves. Using a straight grain veneer was a new challenge but together we succeeded and the final results look stunning.”

The final touch for the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Linley Limited Edition luxury sedan is a Linley branded leather bag that will be put in the boot of the car, alongside with other Linley stuffs such as a cashmere blanket and a leather luggage tag.
