2014 Mercedes BLS - CLC Spyshots

Okay, we have very good explanation why we choose to name this prototype as 2014 Mercedes-Benz BLS/CLC because the three-pointed German automaker successfully makes us confuse on naming this vehicle. What you see is the prototype of the brand new compact four-door coupe which tries to follow the steps of CLS. But what makes this 2012 BLS/CLC sedan different from the CLS is the fact that the German automaker uses the compact platform from A-Class and B-Class. Unusual but worth a shot development, right?

Rumor: VW Works on 2014 Passat?

VW Passat Alltrack

Okay, we are not covering anything, as we go straight to the core problem. Rumor suggests that Das Auto is currently working on the Euro-spec of 2014 Volkswagen Passat. The good news is that it is not a rumor or trashy gossip, but it is the truth. Volkswagen does work on the developing of the next-gen of 2014 Passat that matches the European specs. But, unlike other carmakers, Das Auto is happily shares the details on their new project. Please be advised that the photo which we attached is the 2013 model year of Passat Alltrack.

The 2014 Volkswagen Passat will be underpinned by the VW Groups’ MQB as the basic platform. Yup… it is the same platform that also used by Golf VII and Audi A3 which means that Das Auto will be putting the mysterious vehicle into strict diet in order to lose some weight. You know, we still can’t figure it out what kind of vehicle the next-gen of Passat will be.

Speaking about the lose weight, autoevolution.com predicted that the 2014 Passat could be having total weight as many as 1,400kg or 3,086 lbs and this is for the entry-level version. Volkswagen hinted that the vehicle will be carrying more gadgets to indulge the driver and the passenger. Okay, now the important part of all – the engine and performance.

Das Auto has been reported working on the upgraded diesel powerplants which meet the Euro 6 emission standards. For petrol powerplants, the 2014 Volkswagen Passat might be getting cylinder deactivation and start-stop to make the vehicle more efficient. The engine choices could be the 2.5L five-cylinder which replaces the 3.6L V6. And last but not least is the fact that the upcoming generation of Passat would be presented in hybrid version where the vehicle will be powered by the combination of 1.4L of TFSI and an electric motor for combined power output 170 horsepower.

2014 Audi R8 Brings the Supercar to the Next Level

Audi R8 Concept

You probably think that we are imagining way too far; but we already know what the 2012 model year of Audi R8 looks like. With the battle between pure-blood supercars with hybrid –oriented supercar, we just can’t help it that we afraid that the next generation of R8 will be ended up like Evo with its plug-in hybrid project rumor. Come on… we don’t another sacrifice here folks, although we pretty much aware that we can’t hold on to the fossil fuel forever.

As much as we curious about the facelifted Audi R8 which already scheduled for debut next year, we want to know where Audi will take the future of our one favorite supercar, or should we refer is as pure-blood supercar? Just so you know, the upcoming R8 will not only offer facelifted style, but also more powerful engine and a double-clutch gearbox.

You see, those specs are already giving us the thrill, then what can Audi offer us for the 2014 model year of R8? According to autoevolution.com, the next generation for Audi R8 will be not carrying too much fuss, but it will be simple and the most important is, it will be arrive as a pure and all-out supercar. Yeah, competing with the Porsche 911 seems like no longer Audi R8’s main goal because the supercar could be coming to after the Lamborghini.

To give you a bit of early description, the 2012 model year Audi R8 constructed from aluminum to save more weight as for the upcoming R8 could be brought to the next level by selecting carbon fiber as it main material. Well, the 2014 edition of R8 could be still at Audi’s R&D department right now as the German carmaker might be testing the selection of powerplant options which means that we can only rely on the current V8 and V10 although we hope that Audi will develop new engine range as well.

2013 Volkswagen CC: New Engine and New Name

2013 Volkswagen CC

What you see up there is the facelifted version for the 2013 Volkswagen CC. Yes… no more “VW Passat CC” as Das Auto decided to drop the name “Passat” as the German automaker wants their four-door coupe to be fresh and that is why the 2013 CC undergoes a facelifted program. The next-gen of CC carries more angular design for VW’s style. Can’t wait to see the 2013 Volkswagen CC without the Passat tag? Make sure you attend the 2011 LA Auto Show next week.

Okay, you have read our title right? We already shared that there will be no more “Passat” for the 2013 Volkswagen CC; which means that now we have to bring you about the new engine option. But, before we get there, do you know what other reasons why Das Auto risks not to use the “Passat” name anymore? We suspect it has something to do with the idea of VW Groups wants to be the world’s automaker which delivers so many vehicles globally.

Now, back to our main discussion, the new engine for the 2013 CC. The four-door coupe will no longer powered by the 3.6L V6 engine for the US and North American market. And that is about it. Das Auto doesn’t refer any engine replacement for the 3.6L V6 as they merely said that this kind of engine doesn’t suit to the market conditions there. Don’t worry, we pretty sure that VW is currently working on new engine range which will be unveiled on this month’s LA Auto Show.
