2011 Frankfurt Auto Show Report: 2012 BMW M5 is Blue

2012 BMW M5

The 2012 BMW M5 sedan is here as the blue sedan got its official introductory at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. Although it comes in blue, we still can sense the hidden power of the 2012 BMW M5. Don’t be fooled by the looks of the 2012 BMW M5 as the Bavarian carmaker filled the sedan with so many cool features that it’s hard not to notice it.

The 2012 BMW M5 sedan is powered by a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Well…. It seems like the Bavarian carmaker puts engine diet for the 2012 BMW M5, don’t you think? To ring the bell for you, the previous generation of the 2012 BMW M5 was powered by more exotic but not-so-much powerful 5.0L V10. The new engine for the 2012 BMW M5 sedan is also the same engines unit which are powered the X5 M and X6 M and giving power output around 560 horsepower.

The more power V8 engine under the hood of the 2012 BMW M5 sedan is more powerful and yet it has sensible fuel economy usage. The figures are at 99.L/100 km (23.8 mpg) and those figures can be achieved thanks to the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and an electrically controlled active differential which specifically designed for the 2012 BMW M5.

Unfortunately, we only spotted the 2012 BMW M5 in sedan form, no sign of the station wagon form. We all know that the Americans are preferring the 2012 BMW M5 in the form of station wagon because that is how the Bavarian carmaker gets its highest market share.

So, what does the 2012 BMW M5 sedan against here? Which one is its biggest challenger? We think that the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is one 2012 BMW M5 challengers. No officially price tag announced by the Bavarian auto manufacturer, but we suppose the 2012 BMW M5 will not be affordable sedan.

For this latest commercial video feature, the company has chosen a more GT-like attitude. The 2012 BMW M5 saloon hits the motorway in style, drives up to a personal jet (why would you do something as boring as flying when you have an M?) and arrives in fashionable manner at a party.

Official Leaked Photos of 2012 BMW M5

2012 BMW M5

2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan has spotted tested the manual gearbox couple of days ago. Nowadays, it seems that photos and info on an upcoming car always find their way onto the internet before the manufacturer intends to. This was indeed the case with the all-important, highly-anticipated and awe-inspiring new 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan, as a set of photos has fallen through the cracks and into our hands, thanks to the efforts of local German newspaper.

Bless its baby blue eyes, the new 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan is actually good looking and is significantly more refined in appearance than the outgoing model. Just like the old one, everything oozes power and strength, but all the refined 5-Series genes are in place as well, so the whole package looks like a bodybuilder dressed in an expensive Armani suite. There’s also some bold jewelry involved, as the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan sports big 20-inch wheels with Z-rated tires.

We’ve gone on and on about the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that replaced the old naturally aspirated V10 on the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan, but we’ve never been able to tell you the exact output. Now we can, as the output has been revealed to be 560 HP at 6,000 rpm and 501 lb-ft or 680 Nm of torque. This not only makes it more powerful than the old 507 HP M5, but the performance of the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan is also available lower down in the rev range.

The new F10 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan will run to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds. To reach 124 mph (200 km/h), the new M5 needs about 13 seconds. The electronic nanny will stop you from going over 155 mph (250 km/h), but the M-Drivers-Package brings the top speed to 189 mph (305km/h).

2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan price tag (probably including European VAT) is rumored to be around €100,000 or about $144,000, though the US price for the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan will surely not be that high.

Spotted – 2012 BMW M5 Testing with Manual Gearbox in US

2012 BMW M5 spyshot

2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan is supposed to be in automatic, right? But, do you see that shabby-looking stick in the middle of the console? That’s probably one of the most important bits of leather plastic a metal in the world right now for true BMW M fans, because it indicates that the upcoming M5 will let you switch cogs manually with a little help from your left foot.

We got the scooped from Inside Line’s blog, we are able to tell you that the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan which will be unveiled at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show in September, will have a manual option… at least in the US. This is because a test conducted by BMW was spied on undisclosed location with a conventional stick which should be linked to a six-speed gear box.

2012 BMW M5 Manual Gear Box

The prototype of 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan with manual gearbox was spotted in Los Angeles, California and was also seen wearing a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Some US customers might not be all that into using a clutch pedal on the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan, so we’ll remind you that the performance saloon will also sport a seven-speed dual clutch option, otherwise known as the M DCT.

The 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan with manual gearbox is still a closely guarded secret in some aspects, but we can tell you the monster will make use of a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology (aka 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the X5/X6 M SAVs). Figures might show up to 570 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque, enough to pull the vehicle past the 62 mph (100 km/h) threshold in 4.4 seconds.

2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan with manual gearbox will have significantly more power than its predecessor while also being 25 percent more efficient. The reduction in fuel consumption on the 2012 BMW M5 four-door sedan will be due to fuel-saving measures engineered by BMW Efficient Dynamics, such as an automatic stop-start system and brake energy regeneration system.
