Volkswagen seems very busy this year because after launching the 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDi and 2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet, they are preparing for celebrating the 35th anniversary of the original model of Golf GTi in 1976 by revealing the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35. This will make fans of Golf GTI all over the world filled with excitements.
The company has released the images of the 2011 Edition 35 which will bring a couple of styling and performance enhancements.
The tagged “Edition 35” refers to the special edition differentials itself from the standard version through a set of visual upgrades, including revised front and rear bumpers, smoky light lenses, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, glossy black plastic grille and side mirror trim, and last but not the least the new alloy wheels and ‘35’ badging. Volkswagen really puts their best effort to wrap the 35th anniversary of the Golf GTI and expects that the 2011 VW Golf GTI Edition 35 to be one sophisticated hatchback.
The ‘35’ pattern of the Golf GTI Edition 35 represents the interior, on the door sills, the head rests and the center of the seats. Volkswagen surely spoils the fans of Golf GTI by applying sport fabric upholstery that has a honeycomb-like pattern instead of the standard models – the tartan theme. Another visual modification is the golf ball-shaped gearshift lever.
Since this is the 35th anniversary of Golf GTI, what sort of engine that Volkswagen applied on the 2011 Edition 35? Well, the Golf GTI Edition 35 powered by a revised version of a 2.0-liter TSI engine, tuned to deliver an extra 25 horsepower, adding up a total 235 horsepower. Unfortunately, Volkswagen saves up some mysteries about the torque figure and acceleration times to add the excitement of the anniversary surprise.
The official launch date for the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 will be on June 1st 2011 at the 2011 Worthersee hot hatch festival in Austria. The price tag for this desirable hatchback is €30,425 (about $43,789 – at the current exchange rate) in Germany. The standard model of 2011 Edition 35 in the domestic market costs €27,275 ($39,257 – at the current exchange rate).
The way we see it, the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 is a must-have car because of its unique design which is the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Golf GTI model.
