As we mentioned before, the Volkswagen NILS is a single-seater concept for individual transportation – no hitchhikers, please. What do you think about the futuristic exterior of the Volkswagen NILS single-seater concept? The first time we look at the photos, it feels like we have drawn to the Tron Legacy movie set. Anyway, the Volkswagen NILS concept uses an F1-style layout which is definitely emphasizes the single-seater design. The driver will be sitting in the middle of the 3.040mm long, 1,390mm wide, and 1,200mm high action.
Judging by the photos, the Volkswagen NILS single-seater concept is smaller than the most compact VW vehicle – the Volkswagen Up. The Volkswagen NILS single-seater concept carries 17-inch alloy rims and rolls on 115/80 tires at the front and 125/80 ties at the rear.
The electric motor of the Volkswagen NILS single-seater concept is put on the rear part. It has power output around 15 kW (20.4 horsepower) which is more than enough as daily ride. The peak power reaches at 25 kW (34 horsepower) with the torque is at 96 lb-ft. To power the Volkswagen NILS single-seater concept, there is a 5.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which Das Auto refers as “relatively inexpensive”. That particular lithium-ion battery pack offers a driving range of 40 miles (64 km).
The Volkswagen NILS single-seater concept is able to hit 62 mph less than 11 seconds and the top speed is 81 mph (130 km/h) and to reach all those figures, it needs two hours to reach a full charge. Das Auto promises that the single-seater concept offers sportscar handling as the Volkswagen NILS concept has no power steering and has a double-wishbone setup for both axles.
