2012 Porsche 911 is Coming Soon
No more secret for 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar. In fact, the Stuttgart sportscar specialist has decided to give us a little teaser of the 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar testing in Africa, just like a movie-maker would, and the Internet is flaring up with rumors and speculations.
We’ve been reporting on spyshots if the new 991 incarnation of the famous 911 for a while now, so we accept the challenge of separating the wheat from the chaff. First off, Porsche looks set on debuting the new 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar this year, a fact indicated by the video saying “48 years in the making”.
In the video of just 1 minute and 22 seconds, we get to see not only the coupe version of the 2012 Porsche 911 sportscar, with its new elongated shape, but also the convertible and the rumored Targa version, which actually sports a huge glass roof that retracts back, not the two-piece version that retro fans were hoping for.
Despite the heavy camouflage on the 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar, we can see the interior has taken inspiration from the Panamera’s center console. The engine bay is also covered up, and the opening through which you can see the flat-six has shrunk, indicating the unit is indeed creeping forward. We can’t know for sure, but the new 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar should sport a 3.4-liter flat-six with 350 in the Carrera models and a revised 3.8-liter with about 400 ponies in the Carrera S and 4S.
Both manual and PDK versions of the 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar will let you play with a total of seven gears, as the stick-shift model will add an extra cog for improved economy, which will be reduced by 12 to 15 percent on the European test cycle. The parking brake on the 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sportscar will make a switch to an electronic version and both the manual and automatic will have Launch Control.
