You see, this is what happen if the automaker takes too long to create one of the most waited vans – the Mercedes-Benz Citan. And yes, the spyshots really got into our nerves, folks… so, what do we got here? What we got here is the rendering image of the Citan urban delivery van which probably still covered in heavy camouflage as part of it development. Actually, Mercedes-Benz already put this project on their to-do list and the three-pointed German should thank the new development on the van department.
The rendering images of the Mercedes-Benz Citan are courtesy of theophiluschin.com and we just love the accuracy of the lines, styling, and design. Not too futuristic but very simple and emphasizes that the Citan Van is intended for urban delivery with classy look and reliable performance. According to autoevolution.com, the Citan van project is joint-project between Nissan-Renault and Mercedes-Benz. Just like Toyota and Subaru with the GT 86, BRZ, and Scion FR-S.
Mercedes-Benz doesn’t need to spend their resources in developing new platform for the Citan van because the vehicle set to be using the Renault Kangoo platform. Just to remind you, the debut for this van is going to be at the IAA Commerical vehicle Show in Hanover this September. No official word, but we heard that Mercedes-Benz Citan could borrow the low-emission BlueEFFICIENCY powertrain for both petrol and diesel engine. Mercedes also opens a possibility for an electric drive version as well.
