VW Bulli became the focus of Volkswagen’s main production

Looks like we will increasingly see a lot of VW Bulli which is will pack the streets of major cities. Because, the CEO of Volkswagen of America, Jonathan Browning, said that the production of VW Bulli is his main focus.

VW Bulli combines the 1950 VW transporter and 2001 and will use the Microbus concept. VW Bulli was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March. However, compared to its predecessor, this concept car a little smaller, thus expected to compete with the Kia Soul, Scion xB and Nissan Cube. In addition, the production of VW Bulli also will not interfere with sales of VW’s Chrysler-sourced Routan minivan. However, it will attract new customers who infatuated with the VW Bus.

Browning asserts that VW Bulli Volkswagen will maintain the image that Volkswagen is always follows the development of the era. VW Bulli will use an 85 KW electric motor, which can generate maximum speed of 87 mph and stay within a distance of 186 miles. However, the use of gas or turbodiesel engine will be much more acceptable by the market at the present time.

Nevertheless VW Bulli has attracted the interest of many groups. And its look like Browning’s decision to focus on the production of this concept car is very appropriate. Especially, if Volkswagen is want to achieve greater market share in the future.

Consumer Reports magazine gave a negative credit on the 2011 VW Jetta

Volkswagen seems to be more careful in issuing a car if they do not want a bad reputation because of that car. This is what happened with the 2011 VW Jetta that is marketed in the United States. Consumer Reports magazine gave a poor rating of this sedan. “The new Jetta is unimpressive. In an effort to bring the car’s starting price down, VW cheapened the previous Jetta’s interior and suspension, making it less sophisticated and compromising handling,” said David Champion, a senior director of Consumer Reports’ Auto Test Center in Connecticut.

Consumer Reports magazine said that the 2011 VW Jetta which uses 5-cylinder engine, even its have coarse-sounding. So the VW Jetta impression as a sedan which is nimble, agile, and has well handling is destroyed. Although Volkswagen has lowered the price of the 2011 VW Jetta fuses up to $ 1,740 more than its predecessor (the sedan is sold at $ 15,995). However, the low price makes the 2011 VW Jetta quality decreases.

Consumer Reports magazine has long been recognized as an independent magazine that perform a thorough and comprehensive test on all cars sold in the United States. So the magazine’s negative assessment of the 2011 VW Jetta is something that is not supposed to happen. Volkswagen sedan should immediately fix it if you do not want to lose the market in the United States.

Volkswagen XL1, the new concept of the Super Efficient Vehicle

In the Qatar Motor Show, 26-29 January 2011, Volkswagen introduced the newest concept of SEV (Super Efficient Vehicle), Volkswagen XL1. This car is a development of 2 previous versions, Volkswagen 1-Litre (2002) and L1 (2009). What is interesting from Volkswagen XL1?

First, we will discuss the design of this car. Volkswagen XL1 designs similar to Volkswagen L1, but there are some addition parts as well as the technology that makes it more dynamic. Almost the entire car body is made of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer), so that its weight becomes lighter. Volkswagen XL1 is equipped with electrically controlled air intakes, LED headlamps, and a protective rear wheels to prevent air turbulence.

For the engine, this car uses a hybrid system with a combination of 0.8-liter two-cylinder TDI engine (produced 48 hp) and an electric motor (producing 27 hp). Volkswagen XL1 using a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the electric motors uses a lithium-ion battery. Maximum speed of this car is just 100 mph, because there is electronically limited system. Volkswagen XL1 very economical in fuel use, 1 liter/100 km.

Unfortunately, this car cannot we have now. The plan, Volkswagen will just offer Volkswagen XL1 in 2013. So, you have time to save money, so if the car has been launched, you can simply buy them.
