Unveiling the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35

2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35

Volkswagen seems very busy this year because after launching the 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDi and 2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet, they are preparing for celebrating the 35th anniversary of the original model of Golf GTi in 1976 by revealing the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35. This will make fans of Golf GTI all over the world filled with excitements.

The company has released the images of the 2011 Edition 35 which will bring a couple of styling and performance enhancements.

The tagged “Edition 35” refers to the special edition differentials itself from the standard version through a set of visual upgrades, including revised front and rear bumpers, smoky light lenses, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, glossy black plastic grille and side mirror trim, and last but not the least the new alloy wheels and ‘35’ badging. Volkswagen really puts their best effort to wrap the 35th anniversary of the Golf GTI and expects that the 2011 VW Golf GTI Edition 35 to be one sophisticated hatchback.

The ‘35’ pattern of the Golf GTI Edition 35 represents the interior, on the door sills, the head rests and the center of the seats. Volkswagen surely spoils the fans of Golf GTI by applying sport fabric upholstery that has a honeycomb-like pattern instead of the standard models – the tartan theme. Another visual modification is the golf ball-shaped gearshift lever.

Since this is the 35th anniversary of Golf GTI, what sort of engine that Volkswagen applied on the 2011 Edition 35? Well, the Golf GTI Edition 35 powered by a revised version of a 2.0-liter TSI engine, tuned to deliver an extra 25 horsepower, adding up a total 235 horsepower. Unfortunately, Volkswagen saves up some mysteries about the torque figure and acceleration times to add the excitement of the anniversary surprise.

The official launch date for the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 will be on June 1st 2011 at the 2011 Worthersee hot hatch festival in Austria. The price tag for this desirable hatchback is €30,425 (about $43,789 – at the current exchange rate) in Germany. The standard model of 2011 Edition 35 in the domestic market costs €27,275 ($39,257 – at the current exchange rate).

The way we see it, the 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 is a must-have car because of its unique design which is the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Golf GTI model.

The 2013 Volkswagen Bluesport is Not For Sale

2013 Volkswagen Bluesport

Seriously? No… we are not kidding, but we will tell you later. Volkswagen has been teasing us with the sports car dream since 2003, but yet none of it makes it to the reality. But, that might be about the change. An anonymous source in Europe tipped off that the marquee brand for what is now the world’s third largest automaker will likely add an affordable mid-engine two-seat convertible patterned on the 2013 Volkswagen Bluesport which made its debut on the 2009 Detroit Motor Show.

Yes, we have the same questions just like you. Why Volkswagen (keeps) teasing us again with an evidently showroom-ready design, and so far in advance? Turns out, Volkswagen has been in a very good mood lately, being one of the few major car manufacturers which actually gained sales in 2008 despite the deteriorating global economy crisis.

So, how is the 2013 VW Bluesport concept exactly? Well, it meant to symbolize the company’s health and rosy future. No less important, it sends a message that Volkswagen will not sacrifice driving fun for low emission and high mpg. Or in other words, VW wants you to have it all, and of course at a reasonable price.

Anyway, we managed to get a little bit info on the engine. The VW Bluesport convertible coupe sports car will probably come with electro-hydraulic power steering, and engine stop/start system, and antilock four-wheel disc brakes with a regenerative function for keeping the battery charged and powering certain accessories. Volkswagen maybe will mount a 1.6-liter TSI engine which able to deliver 220hp and coupled with six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG.

Will the 2013 Volkswagen Bluesport is for sale? Of course it is, but is not likely to arrive in the market until 2012 at the earliest. Guess all the Volkswagen’s fans have to be patience to drive the not-so-blue-ish convertible coupe sports car.

Four Seasons Car of the 2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet

2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet

We are aware that car makers spend billions on the research and development department just to create a new car that meets the customer’s expectations. Perhaps that is why Volkswagen wanted to highlight the fact that their 2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet is four seasons car.

Volkswagen claimed that the new VW Golf Cabriolet’s top opens fully automatically (standard) in just 9.0 seconds which will be bringing you the warmth sunlight during the summer or keeping the snow off your hair during the winter. That is why the Golf Cabriolet sits on top of the convertible class.

Usually, a soft-top is a bit louder inside and a bit less comfortable, but the Golf’s sophisticated design makes it all year round cabriolet thanks to its practical traits.

The company stated that they are continuing a great tradition with the Golf Cabriolet. On the past 3 models which have been produced between 1979 and 2002, over 680,000 drivers set their eyes on the cabriolet version. For period of time, Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet was the world’s most successful cabriolet.

What changes has to be done by Volkswagen to make the 2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet even more relevant for current times? Not much of a roll bar because it has been replaced on the 2011 model with an extremely fast rollover protection system which deploys in fractions of a second. The standard features such as front and side curtain head/thorax airbags, a knee airbag on the driver’s side and ESP are also always standard.

The four seasons car of the 2011 New VW Golf Cabriolet offers 6 different engine variants:

–          1.2 TSI – 77 kW / 105 hp (6-speed)

–          1.4 TS – 90 kW / 122 hp (6-speed/7-speed DSG)

–          1.4 TSI – 118 kW / 160 hp (6-speed/7-speed DSG)

–          2.0 TSI – 155 kW / 210 hp (6-speed DSG)

–          1.6 TSI – 77 kW / 105 hp (5-speed)

–          2.0 TSI  – 103 kW / 140 hp (6-speed/6-speed DSG)

The speculations about new VW Beetle R

Volkswagen officially introduced the 2012 VW Beetle at the Shanghai Auto Show. The appearance of the car was actually inspired to make ragster concept cars of the 2012 VW Beetle.

According to rumors that obtained from someone who did not want to be named, VW will offer a new VW Beetle R soon. The source also states, the concept car will begin production in 2012, and likely will be offered as a 2013 model. However, do not be surprised if the new VW Beetle R appear before next summer.

The new VW Beetle R’s cab will be fitted with the highest quality materials. In addition, there is storage space with a capacity of 310 liters. Interesting features will also be added, such as passive entry, a panoramic sunroof, a Fender audio system, and GPS navigation.

Although still a rumor, there has been much speculation about the engine that will be used by the new VW Beetle R. For North Amrika region, this concept car seems glued two choices of engines, namely a 2.5-liter V5 petrol engine (producing 168 hp) or a 2.0-liter TDI engine (producing 138 hp).

For the European region, the new VW Beetle R instead provide more choices of gasoline-fueled engines, such as a 1.2-liter TSI engine Bluemotion (104 hp), a 1.4-liter TSI engine (158 hp), a 2.0-liter TSI engine (197 hp). In addition, there is a choice to use a diesel engine under the hood of this concept, such as a 1.6-liter TDI engine (104 hp), and a 2.0-liter TDI engine (138 hp).

Whatever the choice of engines that will be used by the new VW Beetle R, this rumor is certainly a good news. This clearly offers consumers more choice to decide the best car they want to use. Hopefully, VW realize the emergence of the concept car immediately.
