Unfortunately, not many had the privilege to witness this spectacular event and see the BMW 328 Hommage Concept up close and personal.

We got the report from YouTube footage of the BMW 328 Hommage Concept in motion, rolling on the grounds near Lake Como in Italy, and all eyes of those who attending the Concorso d’Eleganza laid on the BMW 328 Hommage Concept.

Even at the Concorso d’Eleganza, BMW has not shared the performance details of the BMW 328 Hommage Concept. We know that BMW fitted the BMW 328 Hommage Concept with a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine.

The body of the BMW 328 Hommage Concept, as well as the majority of the interior features, is made of new material called “Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP)”, which means that the weight of the BMW 328 Hommage Concept has been kept to a minimum (780 kilos or 1,720 lbs). Must be new kind of diet proposed by the BMW.

Adrian van Hooydonk – BMW Group Director of Design says, “The Hommage cars have been a long tradition in the BMW Group. Based on our design philosophy “Rooted in history, moving forward in design”, they demonstrate the significance of history for the present. Even 75 years ago, before we had the idea to create the BMW 328 Hommage Concept, the BMW 328 stood for sportiness ad agility through lightweight construction. The BMW 328 Hommage Concept pays tribute to this past and shows how BMW lightweight construction will develop. Carbon is the material of the future.”

Porsche 2013 918 RSR

Porsche originally revealed the 2013 Porsche 918 at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Some automotive experts refered to the Porsche 918 RSR as a cross between the 2011 Geneva Auto Show concept and the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid which ran so well for so long at the 2011 Nurburgring 24hours race.

The 2013 Porsche 918 RSR uses a direct injection V8 derived from the Porsche RS Spyder and tuned to develop 555 horsepower at 10,3000rpm, but adds to that with a pair of electric motors on the front wheels that each contribute a further 101 horsepower, bringing the Porsche 918 RSR’s total power output to 757 horsepower.

If you compare the Porsche 918 RSR with the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid, the GT3 R Hybrid’s energy is harvested under braking and stored in a flywheel spinning at up to 36,000rpm and mounted where Porsche usually install the passenger seat. A button on the steering wheel allows the driver to use the power in eight second bursts. The two electric motors are linked, allowing the 918 RSR to vector torque between the front wheels, improving traction. One weird installment made by Porsche which was a fan on the rear deck between the intakes of Porsche 918 RSR. Porsche has not yet revealed if the fan actually serves any purpose. Perhaps the rear spoiler which identically dimensioned to that of the Porsche RS Spyder does serve a purpose. The color which is liquid metal chrome blue, according to Porsche is new, but it is hard to avoid the feeling that the scheme has been chosen to replicate the classic Gulf colors. Have you noticed the number 22? That number is important because it is the same with the ones on the 1971 Porsche 917 short tail that won the Le Mans having covered a record distance of 3315,21 miles. The interior of 2013 Porsche 918 RSR has racing atmosphere domination from the figure-hugging bucket seats, the gear flasher on the steering wheel, a minimalistic dash and center console with rocker switched, and instead of second seat, a flywheel accumulator right of the center console.

How much is the base price of this Porsche hybrid car? It is in the neighborhood of $600,000.
