Audi got us think that Audi A1 is the smallest four-wheeled vehicle that they offered. But, Audi surprises us with its new urban concept which is a blend of a racing car, a fun car, and of course – urban car. Although Audi only releases the sketches of the new urban vehicle, we just could not help ourselves to see the real vehicle.
Audi refers the urban vehicle as “Audi Urban Concept”. The concept will be a 1+1-seat (coupe?) ultra-light vehicle for dealing with congested urban spaces. The cockpit of the Urban Concept includes carbon fiber-reinforced polymer – that is why Audi refers the urban concept as “ultra-light” – which integrates the undercarriage of both seats.
Audi is planning that the Urban Concept will be equipped with 21-inch wheels which are free-standing and surrounding with protective plates feature blinking strips of LED lights. Umm… “blinking strips of LED lights”? Is Audi planning for an urban concept vehicle of miniature of Christmas tree with engine on it?
Anyhow, the Audi Urban Concept has enough room for two people with their position slightly staggered and at a sporty, low level. All controls and materials on the Urban Concept are intended to contribute the ultra-lightweight construction which assures they can represent a completely unique, sensory allure.
There is more about Audi Urban Concept vehicle. The driver is able to adjust the steering wheel and pedals to his/her own body measurements. The odd – we would like to refer as “unique” but we think this one is the proper term – thing the Urban Concept vehicle is the entry point. To get on board of the Audi Urban Concept vehicle is by the tailgate, also the roof is designed to be maneuverable and slides to the rear to open. It might sound stupid, but if you don’t like to get on board from the tailgate, then try to come in from the roof.
The performance of the Audi Urban Concept vehicle will be based on two e-tron electric motors which offer the propulsion – offering the ultra-lightweight car with capability to use its maximum power. Audi is planning to mount a lithium-ion battery supplies the energy which very much ideal for extended city tours.
Here is what Audi though about its Urban Concept vehicle, “The highly concentrated look of the technical study, with its forward-urging lines, is dynamic and emotional – it lends Audi’s design language a completely new impetus. The Audi urban concept is not based on any previous model – its development is solely oriented on the strict principles of lightweight construction, efficiency and reduction. The result is a concept car with no unnecessary weight, and one that concentrates on the pure essence of sporty motion.” Sadly, no official confirmation about when Audi will make the car, in the mean time, please enjoy the photos of Audi Urban Concept vehicle attached between our writings.
