2012 Audi TT RS

Marking the return of the Audi RS line to the American performance car scene, the first 2012 Audi TT RS coupe sportscar in the U.S. has just been delivered to veteran race car driver Don Istook by the Forth Worth Audi dealership in Texas. How did this happen?

Well, it all started when more than 11,500 fans who have signed the Audi TT RS Facebook petition drive last year, and there was one fans – Dan Istook – that convinced the German automaker to bring the 360-hp coupe to the U.S.; and he is the lucky man who will get the first US delivery for 2012 Audi TT RS.

The Texan also has an interesting history of his time spent behind the wheel. He was also one of the first drivers to race an Audi Quattro in the U.S. in 1985 and he drove Audi S4 models in the Motorola Cup, which later became the Grand-Am Cup.  More recently he has raced Audi TT quattro coupes, and soon he will be driving the 2012 Audi TT RS coupe sportscar.

“Having raced at almost every major track in the U.S. and Canada, I’ve pushed the limits in many cars in my 34 years as a race car driver,” Istook said. “I like my street car to give me some of that thrill.  With my new 2012 Audi TT RS coupe sportscar, I not only get that thrill, but I also get that ‘race car’ sound.”

Under the hood of the 2012 Audi TT RS coupe sportscar lies a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder TFSI engine developing 360 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. Pricing starts at $56,850 (excluding $875 destination charges, taxes, title, options and dealer charges).

“For the past few years, American sports car enthusiasts have pleaded with us to make the marquee available here. With the 2012 Audi TT RS coupe sportscar, we are now furthering the Audi performance story that includes models from the Audi S4 to the new Audi R8 GT,” said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America.

The 2012 Audi TT RS coupe sportscar will be accompanied by Audi RS5 sometime next year to win the heart of US customers.

  7. I am speaking concerning the Audi A7 and Audi TT RS, do not try and alter these options. The A7 and TT RS both provide you with a luxurious perspective of within the vehicle and and same feeling while you drive the main problem is a has a lot more than another. The A7 is much more advanced within the interior using the fresh unlaminated wood sections or inlays and seats and also the HUD within the cars is amazing just like the technological aspect, you feel like your kind of later on and also the TT RS can also be nice within the interior using the classy black and aluminum sections or inlays and extremely nice design construct although not as nice because the interior or luxurious feel because the A7 but factor is TT RS feels amazing they are driving it truly includes a kick and extremely floats like butter around the pavement not to imply the A7 does not but you experience it more because its this type of lightweight and small vehicle along with the accelerator really provides it with the posh driving feel. The vehicle as faster -60 than All of the R8’s aside from GT. it requires 4.1 secs to obtain 60 and as well as in being born in elevated in the usa you gotta love that. I truly I’m not sure which help and explain at length what’s best and why? Thanks

  8. Here’s “request mens” and AOL’s top ten turbo cars:

    10. Audi Q7 V12 TDI

    9. Evo

    8. WRX sti

    7. Audi TT RS

    6. GTR

    5. Porsche 911 turbo

    4. Saleen S7

    3. Bugatti Veyron

    2. Barabus TKR

    1. SSC Ultimate Aero TT

What really goes about this lists, GNX? Syclone? GT-four? DSM awd turbo? RX-7? Supra? what else shall we be held missing

yes GN is available online for on my small listing of not-pointed out cars. How about OTHER cars unlisted available online for.

  9. I know for any model I’d give my firstborn to determine Volkswagen build…3 trim levels…

Mid engined, transversely mounted, RWD/AWD compact sports vehicle made to contend with Porshe, Corvettes, Nissan GT-R, 370Z, M3, etc…

    Base: 2.0TFSi GTI engine, RWD, 205hp, 32mpg, 2850~curb weight, -60 6.2 sec, MSRP $25,000~

    Mid-level: 2.5 Audi TT RS 5 cylinder, AWD, 340hp, 26mpg, 3100~ curb weight, -60 4.3 sec, MSRP $38,000~

    Race: 3.6 Direct Injected Turbocharged VR6, AWD, 485hp, 22mpg, 3250~ curb weight, -60 3.5 sec, MSRP $60,000~

Given just how much energy Volkswagen wrings from a couple.5 Jetta engine within the TT RS, a hi-po 3.6 should not be considered a stretch. But still would package nicely inside a mid engine application. As well as besting a similar Corvettes both in performance and cost…Take a look at Nissan’s 3.8 GT-R engine and just how effective it’s…

Ya I understand I’m, but without having to be employed at VAG, proves hard to do…just thought they’d be considered a winning concept, frankly amazed they haven’t tried it yet…Ferdinand Piesche informs em to construct him a 180mph Phaeton also it happens, but rather, they still build pussy 110hp overweight Jettas and really possess the brass to market them as somethin anybody would truly enjoy. A Ten years old $2500 Focus has better energy to weight…guess marketing ANYTHING whether it’s cheap enough lol

I actually do call at your point concerning the mid engine cars needing more skilled motorists this will make sense, and when Audi develops it, I could not worry less, just could not picture an Audi sports coupe for anywhere near 25 grand to contend with the kind of japanese rivals. And That I love the GTI too, greatly, but it is still overweight. 3250lbs for me is almost not a “compact”, plus it’s FWD. And I’d still crave a Corvettes competitor from Audi that does not cost 150 grand. Apart from the cost, I really like Audis much more than Volkswagen…

  10. Unless of course you do not have a high 5

    My 5 best are :

    1) Audi TT RS

    2) Audi TT 3.2 Quattro

    3) Audi R8

    These Aren’t So As 😛
