1967 Lamborghini Marzal was one of the classic cars beside the last model of Bentley R-Type Continental at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este on May 21st. The auction event on 1967 Lamborghini Marzal coupe was hosted by Salon Prive and RM Auctions.

The 1967 Lamborghini Marzal is four-seater coupe gullwing concept which was expected to set price from €1 – 1.8 million ($ 1.4 – 2.5 million). Introduced at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show, the 1967 Lamborghini Marzal coupe gullwing concept was the result of a close collaboration of Bertone and Lamborghini.

The 1967 Lamborghini Marzal is name after a strain of fighting bull, the Marzal featured a unique prototype engine which developed by Lamborghini which would never see production.  It was also sporting long gullwing doors which enabled the fitment of large windows that were accompanied by a lightly smoked glass roof.

Under the hood, the 1967 Lamborghini Marzal coupe gullwing concept had a transversally mounted in-line V6 which was essentially a rear bank of a Miura’s 3.299-cc V12, fed by horizontal Weber carburetors and coupled to standard five-speed transmission.

The engine was turned 180 degrees compared to the Miura’s layout so that it was behind the ear axle, therefore making it more a rear-than mid-engined layout.

The 1967 Lamborghini Marzal coupe gullwing conceot shared highly futuristic interior, with a hexagonal honeycomb theme on the dashboard and center console housing most instruments and controls, a theme carried over even in the general shape of the seat’s cushions and backrests. In addition, the vehicle boasted Campagnolo magnesium wheels of 1967 Lamborghini Marzal – complete with three-eared spinners.

1967 Lamborghini Marzal coupe gullwing concept made a notable appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix on May 7th, 1967, where it was driven around the circuit by Prince Rainier together with Princess Grace. It was indeed followed into production the following year by the Lamborghini Espada four-seater coupe, which retained the 1967 Lamborghini Marzal’s coupe gullwing concept general aesthetics but did away with the rear-engine layout and glass doors. The initial Espada pre-series prototype still sported with gullwing doors just like the 1967 Lamborghini Marzal, but those too had disappeared by the time the final car reached production.

Follow Up on the Audi A9 From Coupe to Convertible in 2015

Audi A9 Sketch Follow Up on the Audi A9 From Coupe to Convertible in 2015

Audi A9 probably still too long to wait for it, but it is so much fun to discuss about its possibilities. It looks like the battle of the big-four seater coupes and convertible is about to heat up! Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse is joining the battle alongside with two-door Jaguar XJ, and that is not all the participants.

Audi decided to enter the battlefield of coupe or convertible by proposing the Audi A9 in 2014. However, the mode is still in the early design stages and everything could change in three years time. High fuel prices or the global car market could still result in the plan being scrapped, just like the BMW X7.

So, rumor has it that the Audi A9 will be the new luxury flagship of coupe and convertible, just like the S-Klasse for the Mercedes-Benz. The Audi A9 is expected to share its underpinnings with the aluminum constructed Audi A8 and be built alongside the flagship sedan, as well as the Audi R8 super car, at Audi’s plant in Neckarsulm, Germany by 2015, if it gets the permission to step in into the production line-up.

Audi A9 is definitely ready for battling on the big-four seater coupe and convertible, at about the same time, the three-pointed star will also have some new luxury flagships, so things really about to heat up. we are not quite sure how European auto manufacturers have ended up making Cadillac Deville-like vehicles, while American consumers are increasingly going for city cars and hybrids in order to save money at the pumps, but both Audi and Mercedes do luxury very well. The four-door Audi A9 coupe and convertible is expected to fill the slot between the BMW 6-Series and the Mercedes-Benz CL in terms of price, with the suggested engine rumored to include V6 and V8 turbocharged units in both diesel and petrol terms.

First Look on 2011 BMW 5-Series

2011 BMW 5 Series1 First Look on 2011 BMW 5 Series

2011 BMW 5-Series is back to being one stern and handsome German, meant to take on other sternly other German cars such as Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. If we look back, when the 2010 BMW 5-Series F10 sedan comes to North America in June 2010, the first two setups will be the gas-slaking marquee cars, the 2011 BMW 325i has 302 horsepower turbocharged direct-injected 3.0-liter V6 with intake-side Valvetronic, and the 2011 BMW 550i has recently developed 402 horsepower with twin-turbo with direct-injected 4.4-liter V8.

The 2011 BMW 5-Series has ZF-built eight-speed as its standard equipment and it comes attached to the twin-turbo V8 which replaces the last-generation of the 362 horsepower 4.8-liter naturally aspirated unit, and following the 8.6 percent price hike promised in Germany. So, we predict the price tag for the 2011 BMW 5-Series is $65,600 – more or less.

If we compare the previous 5-Series with the current 550i of 2011 BMW 5-Series which has 4.8-liter V8 and new twin turbo 4.4-liter, the horsepower is up by 11 percent while fuel use drops by 5 percent. The acceleration from 0 to 60 mph for the 550i of 2011 BMW 5-Series is pretty much as it was before at just under 5 seconds, and top speed on all cars on North America is limited to 130 mph, extendable up to 150 mph with the 2011 BMW 5-Series Sport package.

2011 BMW 5-Series has hood, front fender, and door panels made from aluminum to save weight, the 550i weighs in at 4.035 pounds at the curb with no passengers. The visual tricks of the 2011 BMW 5-Series make it seem more imposing – bigger, wider triple intakes at the chin, liberal  use of the horizontal lines front and back, stretched lighting units – match well with the slightly lower height, wider track with pronounced haunches, and greater overall width. Despite all the features, the 2011 BMW 5-Series has made Vorsteiner to made tuning kit for it, click here to read our coverage.
